About

Hi, my name is Steven. I can’t really remember when it all started, but it must be at least 2 decades ago that I realized that I liked other places so much more than my motherland (The Netherlands). Over time a dream developed of having a second home abroad. And when I say abroad, I don’t mean the other side of the globe. France is abroad enough for me. More specifically, the south of France. As of recently the dream became even more specific: a second home in Albas. Since there are 2 Albasses (Albasi!?) in France, I should specify it’s the one in the Aude. The one that’s about 1400 kilometers away from my place in the Netherlands.

Maybe I should point out that I use the term ‘home’ quite loosely. In this particular case the house consists of four walls (one of which is in fact a rock face) and a roof. That’s it. No running water, no electricity and no sewer. So there is some work to be done. This might sound pretty daunting as a first time house renovator and I can assure you, that doesn’t even begin to describe it. From time to time the sheer panic I experience, is unbearable. But other times I feel pure bliss thinking of this great adventure that is about to begin. This promises to become interesting.
